I love faux flower arrangements in my home. I think they add the best touches to a room. But I commonly run into an issue where my floral arrangement doesn’t fit just how I want them to in the vase. Then I came up with this one easy trick that changes the game when I have a vase too tall for flowers.

How to Fix Arrangements When You Have a Vase Too Tall for Flowers
I have greenery everywhere in our home. It’s kind of my staple item in my decor.
Finding the right greenery or floral arrangement for me is easy, but finding the perfect vase for them, not so much.
I find plenty of vases that I love, but the arrangement never seems to fit just how I want it to in my vase. The stems squeeze anywhere they want and no matter how long I move things around, it doesn’t have that “Ah-ha!” finale I’m hoping for.
Usually I just suck it up and deal with my average looking arrangements or I seek out other vases.
Until… the other day I thought of the most simple solution. So simple that I am kicking myself for not doing it before. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has come up with this idea, but it’s new to me so I’m excited to share it with you!
My Inspiration
I recently found this gorgeous vase for only $10 at TJ Maxx. Don’t you LOVE TJ Maxx?!
Because I snagged it at TJ Maxx and you can never find the same thing twice there, I unfortunately can’t like my exact vase for you. However, Hearth and Hand by Magnolia has this gorgeous vase that is similar and reasonably priced!
Or checkout how I transformed an old vase to look like beautiful clay pottery in this post and easily use an old vase you have around the house!
I immediately knew what I wanted to put in my new vase.
So, I went to Target next and purchased these Hearth and Hand faux greenery stems only to get them home and see them drop limply to the bottom of the vase. These beautiful eucalyptus stems looked like they were being strangled at the top of the vase.
I needed a solution and wanted an “Ah-ha!” moment with this one. I loved this combination too much to change anything.
The Solution
I’m honestly not even sure how it came to me. I was just looking at the vase and thinking the stems needed to be held together at the top of the vase, rather than having something stuffed at the bottom.
So, my solution? Saran warp. Or plastic wrap… cling wrap… whatever you want to call it.
Yup, that’s what I used.
I pulled a piece out just to see if it would work and on my first try of putting it together, it worked perfectly!
There were other options I could’ve tried like tinfoil or foam bricks, but I like that the saran wrap is clear and easy to work with. It’s easy to mold into what you want it to be and it sticks to the vase really well.
Step one
Pull out a small size of saran wrap. It doesn’t have to be a big size, but the bigger the neck of the vase, the more wrap you’ll want.
I will note- this trick only works for vases that get narrow at the neck.
Step two
Fold the saran wrap lengthwise- don’t bunch it up.
Step three
Wrap the saran wrap around your floral arrangement. This doesn’t have to be tight. I wrapped it tightly around the floral arrangement once to secure the stems together then continued wrapping it fairly loosely. When it’s loose, it’s easier to work with when placing it back in the vase.
Tip- it doesn’t matter how many stems you are wrapping together. I did this with various amounts of stems and even did some single stems.
Step four
Place your arrangement in your vase and work with the saran wrap a bit to make sure it stays securely in the neck of the vase. You might have to add more or less saran wrap to your arrangement or re-wrap it a couple times to get it just right. Work with it a bit and I’m sure you’ll find the sweet spot.
As you can see, this is in a clear vase and you can see the saran wrap a bit. But honestly, no one would ever notice it unless they were really examining it. Unless you’re up close, it’s not even seen.
Some of My Other “Ah-ha!” Moments
Conclusion
I said this was easy! Easy and affordable fixes are kind of my thing. My only regret is I wish I knew about this sooner! It would have saved me a lot of time and effort that I wasted trying to fix so many floral arrangements.
I hope this trick will help you have a vase too tall for flowers and you can have “Ah-ha!” moments in your own home.
